Ay Up! I'm Kurtis, a passionate web developer and a Computer Science graduate from the University of Hull.
Currently based in Hull, you can often find me at the local Makerspace, where I explore my interests and work on various projects. I develop innovative websites and cutting-edge web applications, and I'm also a huge keyboard enthusiast, always tinkering with new designs and setups.
During my time at university, I interned at Strawberry, a Shopify Plus agency, where I had the opportunity to work with prestigious clients such as BarryM Cosmetics, Lil Packaging, and Rio Health. Since then, I've gained diverse experience as a Full Stack Web Developer, working on projects in the aviation sector and contributing to the development of in-house CRMs. My current role as a Technical Consultant has further refined my skills, allowing me to engage with clients and deliver tailored software solutions.

Responsible for delivering comprehensive training sessions to clients, ensuring they effectively understood and utilised our software solutions. I also developed and executed proof of concept (PoC) projects, showcasing the feasibility and value of our products in addressing specific client needs. Additionally, I worked directly with clients on various projects, providing tailored technical solutions, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the successful implementation and integration of our systems into their operations.
January 2024 - April 2024
Technical sales role which allowed me to get a real insight into high-level business software, such as ERP systems, EDI systems etc, while also giving me a real glimpse into the world of sales giving me the skills to conduct thorough research on target prospects, companies and industries to understand their needs, challenges, and pain points.
April 2023 - October 2023
I engaged in front and backend programming to support the maintenance and development of new APIs, front-end components, and data visualisation in the aviation sector. During this role, I had the opportunity to explore emerging technology stacks like Nest JS and Typescript, with a strong emphasis on Jest unit testing.
August 2022 - April 2023
A hybrid role mixing a developer and a business analyst. This role aided me in understanding how the business ran internally. I aided in bringing the stakeholder’s vision to reality and identifying future needs for the project I was assigned to while providing insightful knowledge on how our software operates from a code perspective.This role saw me host various Scrum meetings, communicating with multiple stakeholders and providing jargon-free solutions to upper management.
September 2020 - July 2022
Working with the Symfony framework to develop on an established codebase. The role required creating new complex features, fixing errors within the code and creating new database structures. The work taught the absolute fundementals of working with a legacy code base and developed my knowledge on full stack languages.
October 2019 - September 2020
Supported my studies with freelance development work for Strawberry,a northern Shopify Plus agency. My work included creating e-commerce websites for clients with semantic HTML, Liquid and SCSS. Continuing to freelance for other clients.
June 2019 - September 2019
During this internship, I worked with e-commerce platforms (predominantly Shopify Plus). Typically, I was tasked with fixing bugs, creating new and additional templates for global clients, as well as creating interactive features and content using JavaScript (ES6) and Liquid markup language.
February 2019 - May 2019
This role saw me volunteer my skills and knowledge to support women to help increase diversity within technological roles. This course helped women break into digital industries, teaching them how to code with a multitude of languages, including designing and coding a website from scratch.
Digital Checkup was a project created by myself and Nathaniel Read for the Sustainable Computing module. The module helped teach the importance of online security.
